The paper deals with the protection of human rights in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in genetics and healthcare. The principles of international law related to genetic information elaborated within the context of the international organizations apply also to the algorithm processing of genetic data but such principles are not sufficient (especially when it comes to informed consent and non- discrimination). The practice of sorting individuals into groups can be discriminatory and not appropriate when finalised to healthcare choices. Therefore, the need for human supervision in high-risk applications of AI has been suggested. A multidisciplinary debate is essential and strongly supported by the Council of Europe and by the European Union to shape a human-centered AI.
