Moneta ed economia dell'arte nella Grecia antica. A margine delle riflessioni di Giovanni Marginesu su "costi e benefici" della produzione artistica

In the certainty that in the Greek era there was an osmotic process between artistic creation and the economic sphere, G. Marginesu in his recent works proposes to outline the boundaries of a discipline called "Economics of Greek art" – whose bases aims to establish – while considering as the category of "economic" in the ancient world is so different from that of post-ancient societies. From the extensive documentation examined by the research group on the costs of art which he himself coordinated, the polynomial between money, society, institutional structures, and artistic production fully shows the inextricability of a constraint. The economic dimension of the arts in the Greek world is beyond question. A high point is to ask whether, and to what extent and in what situations, the Greeks developed a conscious awareness of the economic implications of their artistic production.
