The paper is dedicated to the Lutatius Daphnis fragment relating to the foundation and destruction of Parthenope by Cumae. The textual analysis allows us to recognize traces of opposite versions of Parhenope’s story, which can date back to the founding of Neapolis, recording the echoes of the contrasts between the city and the motherland Cumae.
