The main aim of this essay is to offer a possible hermeneutic framework for the current pandemic situation. The methodology adopted is historical-political. The reconstruction begins with the analysis of the narratives and power devices that took shape during the medieval epidemics of leprosy and plague. Conspiracy theories have been identified as a common element and a conceptual vector which, secularized, leads to political modernity. Following this path of paranoia, it has been outlined how conspiracy theories have become the dominant discourse in the USA. The second part of this essay has a theoretical approach, and engages in a comparison between post-truism and conspiracy theories, in order to show their conceptual co-implication. In light of this path, the superimposition of the documedial paradigm and the security paradigm seems to be very promising in the understanding of the present historical context.
