This article presents an analysis of how space and time are experienced by young people from the periphery in Brazil. A qualitative, ethnographic-oriented study was carried out in a peripheral neighbourhood in the city of Salvador, Bahia (Brazil), using Photovoice and the go-along method. During the go-along, the researcher and informant walk side by side in the spaces where the lives of the participants unfold. The aim is to examine their experiences, meaning-making processes and practices in this environment. Photovoice was chosen to complement the data. Thematic analysis was carried out, and the data were discussed from the perspective of cultural psychology. Initially, the panorama of youth from the periphery of society, complete with their characteristics and challenges, is described. Then the scenario in question—the periphery of society—is presented, from its defnition to the analysis of its contextual aspects. Subsequently, the methodology used, the analysis of the data and the discussion are presented. The study made it possible to highlight that the experiences described reverberate in the trajectory of youth development, and they have a special impact on the construction of identity and personal autonomy, the acquisition of educational and interpersonal skills and the forming of perspectives for the future. It was also possible to verify that the methodological tools used have great potential for investigations in the feld of cultural psychology.
