This short essay traces the steps that lead to Jeanne Hersch's original philosophical itinerary. A student of Karl Jaspers in the thirties, Jeanne Hersch was one of the most important voice in the European landscape of the 20th century. Hersch's thesis on the human condition forcefully takes up one of Jaspers' solid ideas: that only by permeating the limit, by permeating everything that separates us from being, it is possible to give a concrete sense of that, which transcends our condition.
