This paper aims to provide a critical reflection on the issue of political correctness, which is being attacked by both public opinion and the intellectual world. It will start with a discussion on the importance of words and language, and then it will analyze the criticism coming from the cultural elite, who seem to reject and preventively undervalue all positions considered ‘politically correct’, invoking the specter of a supposedly liberticidal, authoritarian, and intolerant regime aimed at censorship. Starting from a reflection on the sociological, linguistic, anthropological, psychological, and philosophical literature on language, the paper will analyze the anti-politically correct positions, try- ing to deconstruct what seems to have become a new prejudice. Particularly, it seems to be a new form of revanchism against a linguistic-cultural change that still struggles to find recognition in the intellectual world, locked in the equation between political correctness and prejudiced, useless, disproportionate, and intolerant censorship.

Abstract
Particularly, it seems to be a new form of revanchism against a linguistic-cultural change that still struggles to find recognition in the intellectual world, locked in the equation between political correctness and prejudiced, useless, disproportionate, and intolerant censorship.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
