The study focuses on the temple of Apollo in Pompeii and, in particular, on the inscribed base, perhaps, of a bronze tripod, dedicated by Lucius Mummius, triumphator over Corinth in 145 BC: the study is aimed to demonstrate that the euergetism of Mummius towards the temple of Apollo recovers the traditional values of this cult which originated with the urban foundation of Pompeii at the beginning of the sixth century BC, and which provided the ancient city with a mythical paradigm of identity in a long-term dimension.
