This study registers a new requirement: to shift the focus from the field of study of immigrant people to their everyday life. In the light of the migratory experience in Italy, the study will analyse, in particular, the French-speaking Senegalese migrants in a comparative perspective. In the wake of migration studies, we are committed to going beyond the distinction between migrants and non-migrants, as it is very difficult to define the migratory phenomenon in which men and women with different needs are involved. The use of stereotypes about Senegalese migrants, who follow specific territorial trajectories before settling in Italy, suggests different approaches which, in the case of this study, is the analysis of the language competence of Senegalese in Italy, of the interference of their mother tongue and of the French language in the learning Italian acquisition. The study will analyse the phonetic and prosodic practices acquired in Italy by a group of French-speaking Senegalese living in the South of Italy in an attempt to consider the interference between native language and official language in the process of "foreign" language acquisition.
