The study concerns the iconographic analysis of the scene painted on an Etruscan-Corinthian amphora from Caere, dated to the first half of the 6th century BC, attributed to the “Group of the Scale-Amphorae”. The scene presents a local version of the ambush of Polyxena and Troilus in which the main character of Achilles is replaced by a bearded male figure: the purpose of this work is to focus on the significant program of this variation, which can be explained through the comparison with the contemporary Greek and Etruscan representations of the mythical theme.

Abstract
