The contribution presents a research on young people in Italian inner areas with the aim of understanding life paths, experiences and perspectives in relation to the peculiar coordinates of marginalized inner areas. Through a multidimensional approach, the spheres investigated aim to return components related to context as well as to individual, structural, cultural and agency, professional and public life. The study is divided into three main dimensions of analysis: the positions on the stages of transition to adulthood - study, work, family and parenthood; the practices of everyday life, including habits and forms of active participation; and perspectives on the future, from project orientations to the aspirations 'to stay' in the place of origin. The questions that guide the research concern, in the first place, the way in which the aspects considered combine with each other highlighting general and peculiar features of the young people of inner areas in relation to the macro-geographical ones of the country, and by gender and age, when they are relevant. The second step, through the multivariate analysis of the correspondences, on a factorial base, proposes a synthesis of the elements observed through overall reading guidelines. In the conclusions, the "capability to stay" is highlighted by an important part of young people in the marginalized territories, in relation to the policies necessary to foster the development of a favourable environment for 'staying' and to promote forms of place-based innovation.

Abstract
In the conclusions, the "capability to stay" is highlighted by an important part of young people in the marginalized territories, in relation to the policies necessary to foster the development of a favourable environment for 'staying' and to promote forms of place-based innovation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
