Water is an element of strong connection in the Italian landscape, both within and between the historical city and its surroundings. However, natural disasters, crises and climate change impacts have revealed the downside of rapid urbanization. This research aims to highlight the strategic importance of programming interventions of restoration, functional rehabilitation, as well as water resource management and enhancement, and to ensure the survival of signs of the organicity between city and landscape. The contribution is focused on the UNESCO Cultural Landscape “Amalfitan Coast” and the case study of Maiori, which shows an intricate urban structure founded on the costant presence of the water and all its patterns.

Abstract
Water is an element of strong connection in the Italian landscape, both within and between the historical city and its surroundings. However, natural disasters, crises and climate change impacts have revealed the downside of rapid urbanization. This research aims to highlight the strategic importance of programming interventions of restoration, functional rehabilitation, as well as water resource management and enhancement, and to ensure the survival of signs of the organicity between city and landscape. The contribution is focused on the UNESCO Cultural Landscape “Amalfitan Coast” and the case study of Maiori, which shows an intricate urban structure founded on the costant presence of the water and all its patterns.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
