The paper analyses the plan in the context of China’s foreign policy and its role in the international community. It also examines the reactions of the US and the EU to the plan and the possible reasons why they underestimated its positive aspects. The paper concludes with a discussion of China’s motivations for acting as a mediator in the Ukraine conflict and the implications of the peace plan for global foreign policy.
