This article investigates pivotal aspects of Constance Mayer’s ar- tistic production retrieving chroniclers’ and salonniers’ points of view of that time. As enhanced by contemporary critics’ renewed attention on the matter, Mayer’s popularity spread at the beginning of the age of the Empire, when her partnership with Pierre-Paul Prud’hon began. Despite that, Mayer had been frequently exhibiting since the Directoire era. Furthermore, this article aims to concisely reconstruct Mayer’s identity. Her artistic impact on journals and periodicals, particularly after approaching the manner and models developed by Prud’hon, is undeniable
L’articolo evidenzia alcuni aspetti della produzione artistica di Constance Mayer attraverso le opinioni addotte da cronisti e salonniers dell’e- poca. Come testimonia la rinnovata attenzione da parte della critica coeva, la fama di Mayer si diffonde durante i primi anni dell’Impero, periodo in cui ha inizio il sodalizio con Prud’hon, nonostante la pittrice esponga assiduamente ai Salons sin dall’epoca direttoriale.
