The following article aims to analyse a water drainage system, starting from a microscopic approach to a macroscopical one. This study comes from the examination of all the artefacts found during the excavation campaigns at the domus of the Wounded Beasts, which has been a subject of researches conducted by the Department of Cultural Heritage of the University of Padua, under the direction of Prof. M. Salvadori. The area from which the materials were collected is situated in the western portion of the insula known as the “Central House”. The hydraulic structure ran through the whole house. The main objective of this study is to date the phase of defunctionalisation of the drainage infrastructure, in relation to the building sequence of the domus. The analysis of the finds will therefore be essential to obtain invaluable data concerning the life of the housing complex and the chronological horizon of use of the structure. The article will consist of three sections: a first analysis in which the building technique of the infrastructure will be considered; secondly, the ceramic manufacts will be examined and finally the analysis of zooarcheological remains will be exposed.
