In 2015, the Chair of Medieval Archaeology at the University of Salerno, on behalf of the municipality of Nocera Inferiore and in cooperation with the Superintendency, was commissioned to redevelop the archaeological area underneath the Piazza del Corso. The site, located along the ancient Nuceria-Stabias road, was once occupied by a rustic villa and a funerary area. The fieldwork involved the participation of a considerable number of archaeologists. The team was formed by Cultural Heritage archaeology university students, residents, and Ph.D students. The workshop’s activities were open to the public, and citizens could verify the research progress by safely visiting the site and appreciating the complexity of the archaeologists’ work. After the site was cleaned, several explanatory panels were created to illustrate to visitors the history of the site, the structures, the phases of the excavation, the artifacts recovered, and the urban development of the area.

Abstract
After the site was cleaned, several explanatory panels were created to illustrate to visitors the history of the site, the structures, the phases of the excavation, the artifacts recovered, and the urban development of the area.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
