Starting from the unsuspected analogy between the fields of rhetoric and medicine, and in particular from the stylistic affinities that can be found between Gorgias’ Encomium of Helen and two treatises of the Corpus Hippocraticum (De flatibus and De arte), my paper aims at reconstructing a type of textuality clearly influenced by the intertwining of orality and literacy and at pointing out the role that can be attributed to it in the early stages of rhetoric development.

Abstract
Starting from the unsuspected analogy between the fields of rhetoric and medicine, and in particular from the stylistic affinities that can be found between Gorgias’ Encomium of Helen and two treatises of the Corpus Hippocraticum (De flatibus and De arte), my paper aims at reconstructing a type of textuality clearly influenced by the intertwining of orality and literacy and at pointing out the role that can be attributed to it in the early stages of rhetoric development.File in questo prodotto:
