This work is addressing the design of ferrite arrangements in the coupled coil pair of a dynamic wireless power transfer system for electrical vehicles. The proposed optimization strategy is intended to simplify the action of the system-level control, by minimizing the spatial variation of the coupling parameters along the trajectory of the vehicle motion. Non-uniform arrangements of ferrite beds are proposed, with reference to two case-studies of non-polarized rectangular coils. The proposed solutions are shown to provide a good spatial stability of the coupling parameters, with a strong reduction of the ferrite volume and weight, compared to conventional uniform arrangements, at the price of a slight decrease of the maximum coupling.

Abstract
This work is addressing the design of ferrite arrangements in the coupled coil pair of a dynamic wireless power transfer system for electrical vehicles. The proposed optimization strategy is intended to simplify the action of the system-level control, by minimizing the spatial variation of the coupling parameters along the trajectory of the vehicle motion. Non-uniform arrangements of ferrite beds are proposed, with reference to two case-studies of non-polarized rectangular coils. The proposed solutions are shown to provide a good spatial stability of the coupling parameters, with a strong reduction of the ferrite volume and weight, compared to conventional uniform arrangements, at the price of a slight decrease of the maximum coupling.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
