The relentless drive for modernization in the global built environment—spurred by forces such as urban expansion, booming mass tourism, and the revitalization of built heritage—poses a considerable threat to cultural heritage. Heritage Impact Assessment methods and models aim to balance developmental pressures with conservation priorities, particularly within UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Cultural assets recognized for their Outstanding Universal Value (OUV) must meet stringent criteria of “integrity” and/or “authenticity” and be safeguarded by effective protection and management systems, which are essential for identifying and analyzing potential impacts on cultural heritage. This research seeks to develop a methodology for assessing the potential impacts on OUV architecture and sites by drawing on international guidelines and UNESCO standards. Focusing on Mediterranean coastal areas, the study employs a comprehensive review of relevant literature, new EU directives, on-site investigations, and consultations with key institutions. Abstract
The research is anchored in data from the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Amalfi Coast in Italy.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
