Does institutional quality matter for bioeconomy performance? Insights from Italian regions

This study explores the relationship between institutional quality and bioeconomy performance in Italian regions, utilizing both fixed-effects and 2SLS regression mod- els. The findings consistently show a positive association between institutional qual- ity (and its key pillars) and the performance of bioeconomy sectors. These insights offer valuable guidance for policymakers to enhance bioeconomy outcomes through targeted institutional reforms. By contributing to the growing body of research on the regional dimensions of bioeconomy development, this study provides a roadmap for fostering equitable and sustainable growth across diverse regions.
