Tourism sustainability has to fully account for economic, socio-cultural and environmental aspects, addressing the needs of visitors and host communities. As this concept has a multidimensional nature, it is necessary to build a synthetic indicator that is useful for assessing Tourism sustainability at a territorial level. One of the critical problems is the choice of a suitable set of weights for the different considered sub-indicators. This work uses a weighting strategy based on Stochastic Multi-attribute Acceptability Analysis to deal with this task. We employed the synthetic indicator of Tourism sustainability obtained with this procedure to rank the 20 Italian regions, showing the preliminary results of an ongoing study on the phenomenon.

Abstract
Tourism sustainability has to fully account for economic, socio-cultural and environmental aspects, addressing the needs of visitors and host communities. As this concept has a multidimensional nature, it is necessary to build a synthetic indicator that is useful for assessing Tourism sustainability at a territorial level. One of the critical problems is the choice of a suitable set of weights for the different considered sub-indicators. This work uses a weighting strategy based on Stochastic Multi-attribute Acceptability Analysis to deal with this task. We employed the synthetic indicator of Tourism sustainability obtained with this procedure to rank the 20 Italian regions, showing the preliminary results of an ongoing study on the phenomenon.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
