The bourbon royal sites are characterized by a network of buildings for residential uses, places for leisure and hunting, for agri￾cultural and industrial production, which have contributed to the definition of the historical landscape through the creation and maintenance of natural reserves. After the unification of Italy, the change of property led to the fragmentation of these areas which, having lost their original uses, were often abandoned or altered. The essay, through the emblematic case of the Real State Property of Calvi, whose events are intertwined with the nearby Royal Palace of Carditello, retraces these phases, through the intersection of cartographic, iconographic and archival documentation with direct knowledge of the historic buildings. A knowl￾edge process necessary to direct restoration and enhancement choices, reconnecting the historical site within the territorial network.
