This paper examines the transformations in audiovisual media systems over the last two and a half decades through a medio-anthropological approach. The analysis traces three historical periods: the cinema era (1920s-1950s), the television-cinema hybridization period, and the current digital age, focusing on how the concept of "imaginary" has evolved from collective to molecular forms. The study identifies eight key changes in the digital landscape and explores how new technologies have reshaped both media consumption and social relationships. It concludes by proposing research objectives for understanding the foundations of the digital age and the relationship between digital imaginary and social theory.

Abstract

This paper examines the transformations in audiovisual media systems over the last two and a half decades through a medio-anthropological approach. The analysis traces three historical periods: the cinema era (1920s-1950s), the television-cinema hybridization period, and the current digital age, focusing on how the concept of "imaginary" has evolved from collective to molecular forms. The study identifies eight key changes in the digital landscape and explores how new technologies have reshaped both media consumption and social relationships. It concludes by proposing research objectives for understanding the foundations of the digital age and the relationship between digital imaginary and social theory.
