One hundred years ago, in 1924, Helmuth Plessner published an essay criticising social radicalism. These were the difficult times of the Weimar Republic, where radical philosophies developed alongside political radicalism. Seizing this opportunity, my article outlines considerations on the reconciliation of theoretical radicalism and practical radicalism. The result is negative, because the former radicalism shows an irremediable conflict between theory and practice (“root aporetics”), which the latter wants to eliminate (unity of theory and praxis). Thus, if philosophy wants to go beyond its critical-regulative function, it should translate itself into a precise political programme.

Abstract
One hundred years ago, in 1924, Helmuth Plessner published an essay criticising social radicalism. These were the difficult times of the Weimar Republic, where radical philosophies developed alongside political radicalism. Seizing this opportunity, my article outlines considerations on the reconciliation of theoretical radicalism and practical radicalism. The result is negative, because the former radicalism shows an irremediable conflict between theory and practice (“root aporetics”), which the latter wants to eliminate (unity of theory and praxis). Thus, if philosophy wants to go beyond its critical-regulative function, it should translate itself into a precise political programme.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
