This essay intends to start off from the movie The Room Next Door by Pedro Almodóvar to address the issue of euthanasia through a historical-legal reconstruction of the protection guaranteed to those who intend to put an end to their sufferings with death, with specific attention to the Italian context. The aim of this work is to understand how the cinematographic art addresses this topic with all its evocative power, suggesting keys to interpretation and producing thought aimed at increasing the sensitivity not only of ordinary people, but also of anyone who holds power within each State.
Il presente contributo prende le mosse dal film La stanza accanto di Pedro Almodóvar per affrontare il tema dell’eutanasia mediante una analisi storico-giuridica della tutela di quanti intendessero porre fine alle proprie sofferenze con la morte, con specifico riferimento al contesto italiano. L’obiettivo è comprendere come il cinema affronti questo argomento con tutta la sua potenza evocativa, suggerendo chiavi di lettura e producendo pensiero volto ad incrementare la sensibilità non solo della gente comune, ma anche di chiunque detenga il potere all’interno di ciascuno Stato.
