This research effort offers a craft areas framework of the most important cities of Magna Graecia, based on published data. I take into consideration the cities of Locri, Metaponto, Eraclea, Taranto, Crotone, Caulonia, Sibari, Laos, Velia and Poseidone and I left out the northern Campania that deserves a separate discussion. After a brief review on the state of research in Magna Graecia, I realized a reasoned cataloging of all the artisanal plants of the Italiote poleis, from the archaic age to the III century. a.C . The cataloging covers all available information, takes into account the episodicity of the excavations, the disparity and sometimes the absence of publications. The book concludes with an interpretative summary of the knowledge concerning each site, based on the typology and location of the archaeological evidence and on the political, social and economic transformations that influenced the productive system of each community that adapted to the different circumstances from time to time with the acquisition of technological innovations, the growth or the depletion of a specific craft activity.
