Abstract

In this paper we discuss research issues, practical matters and legal constraints driving the design and development of lawful tools and frameworks for a real-time, automated analysis of Internet traffic, supporting detection and recovery of hidden traffic and botnets, as well as preserving the integrity and confidentiality of evidences. We propose a methodological perspective and lines of development that in our vision are the basic pillars of such a framework, to address a multi-stakeholder, multinational scenario.
