«Un cammino ancora inconsueto. Oscillazione e incertezza nella filosofia della natura di Ernst Bloch

From his early years Ernst Bloch adopted a dualistic model of interpreting reality that was inspired by Marcion’s Gnosticism. This model is in no way an obstacle to the elaboration of a philosophy of nature, which will find an initial formulation in the years leading up to the first edition of Geist der Utopie (1918) and will then be constantly developed and perfected until his last great work, Experimentum mundi (1975). This philosophy of nature, without betraying its initial inspiration, will be enriched in the course of time by comparisons with Romantic Naturphilosophie and Hegelian dialectics, the categories of dialectical materialism, the Aristotelian conception of matter, etc. The contribution aims to bring out the special features of Bloch’s conception, according to which the truth of nature is to be found in an as yet unexpressed intensive core that is beyond the physical dimension.
