Between 1930 and 1960, Pier Luigi Nervi had several opportunities to experiment with patents and technological innovations for industrial construction, commissioned by the Autonomous Administration of State Monopolies. Among the industrial typologies, the Tobacco Factory guaranteed ample opportunities to experiment with creative and original construction and spatial solutions. This paper aims to investigate Pier Luigi Nervi’s interventions in tobacco factories in Campania, tracing his role in the climate of post-war reconstruction. Documentary research confirms his interventions at the tobacco factories in Naples, Scafati, San Giorgio del Sannio and Benevento; while his contribution at the Battipaglia tobacco factory in which, however, his precise stylistic and structural features are found, is unclear and not well stated.
