In the overall reading of the pericopes making up Strab. V 4,7, the paper aims to reconstruct the contribution that the mention of φρατρίαι gives to the Strabonian image of Neapolis. We will first proceed to a careful examination of the concerned context sections, highlighting their relationship with other sources. In a second step, we will examine the institution of φρατρία in Greco-Roman Neapolis with the goal of approaching it as closely as possible to the Greek one, using, for this purpose, what the epigraphic attestations preserve. Then, we will put the emerging picture in relation to Strabo and the only other literary source, Varro, Ling. Lat. V 85.

Abstract
Lat.
