Kant’s Anthropology is a hybrid work that challenges the reader. I try to read it using the concept of “governmentality”, defined by Foucault as a set of techniques to guide human conduct. Governmentality allows us to emphasise the autonomy of anthropology and its sphere of action (the worldly theatre of civilisation) with respect to deontological ethics. The governmental perspective also makes it possible to link Kantian anthropology to the humanistic tradition of civilisation manuals, which convey a prudential civic ethics. Thus, Kantian anthropology proves to be the problematic meeting point between humanistic prudential ethics and deontological ethics.

Abstract
Kant’s Anthropology is a hybrid work that challenges the reader. I try to read it using the concept of “governmentality”, defined by Foucault as a set of techniques to guide human conduct. Governmentality allows us to emphasise the autonomy of anthropology and its sphere of action (the worldly theatre of civilisation) with respect to deontological ethics. The governmental perspective also makes it possible to link Kantian anthropology to the humanistic tradition of civilisation manuals, which convey a prudential civic ethics. Thus, Kantian anthropology proves to be the problematic meeting point between humanistic prudential ethics and deontological ethics.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
