L’Iran di Khamenei tra resistenze teocratiche e speranze riformiste

One of the most interesting fronts for observation in the geopolitics of religions is certainly Iran. Despite the growing dissent of large sections of the population against the power of the Shiite clergy over brutal human rights repressions, the Supreme Leader Khamenei continues to exercise his power in an unyielding manner, net of some obvious signs of relenting due to the internal economic crisis and the “costly” relations in terms of material resources brought about by alliances with some Middle Eastern states. Observing some of the dynamics at work, starting with the constitutional set-up and the way religion affects political-institutional arrangements, can help to understand the evolution (or involution) of an experience (the Khomeinist one) destined to change physiognomy in the medium to long term.
