With the growth of the food processing industry, measurement and monitoring of food quality have become an important task today. Food production is being transformed by technological changes in precision agriculture, biotechnology, and food safety technologies as nutritious, safe, and ethically produced food becomes increasingly important for health and sustainability. This manuscript proposes an intelligent food production system that is designed in conformance with the IEC 61499 standard for adaptive control and precise measurement of the Italian liqueur called 'Limoncello'. Successful production of this liqueur depends on the accurate measurement of many parameters.
