In this work, we ask whether and to what extent Artificial Intelligence, specifically ChatGPT, can emulate the behavior of an expert teacher and therefore be able to provide useful suggestions to improve teaching actions in the classroom. To evaluate the quality of the suggestions provided by AI, we relied on a questionnaire (ETQ) already used to highlight the differences between decisions taken by common teachers, influenced by beliefs and slogans that circulate in the school, and expert teachers, i.e. those who know the evidence acquired from research. The questionnaire was submitted to ChatGPT. After some dialogic interactions in which critical observations were made, ChatGPT obtained answers very close to the expert model. We show how ChatGPT can be used to encourage teachers to review naive conceptions and acquire effective lesson forms preliminary to training to be continued with guided practice and lesson study.
