In this paper we investigate a framework to find an optimal choice of compression algorithms that allow the best allocation of computing resources in a massive data storage environment: our goal is to maximize the efficiency of data compression given limited computational resources. We test the optimization algorithm on different sets of digital images and the experimental results show its effectiveness.
