Territorial marginalization in Italy’s inner regions is a multidimensional phenomenon, resulting from historical, economic, and social dynamics that have caused depopulation and the subsequent degradation of the built heritage. Focusing on the crucial concerns related to the conservation and adaptive reuse of existing architecture, this study explores the phenomenon in historic villages. The potential of architectural regeneration as a tool for social and economic reactivation will be investigated through the Alto Casertano case study, aiming to outline strategies that can help these communities regain their centrality and reintegrate into the modern economic and cultural system.

Abstract
Territorial marginalization in Italy’s inner regions is a multidimensional phenomenon, resulting from historical, economic, and social dynamics that have caused depopulation and the subsequent degradation of the built heritage. Focusing on the crucial concerns related to the conservation and adaptive reuse of existing architecture, this study explores the phenomenon in historic villages. The potential of architectural regeneration as a tool for social and economic reactivation will be investigated through the Alto Casertano case study, aiming to outline strategies that can help these communities regain their centrality and reintegrate into the modern economic and cultural system.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
