This study analyses the impact of digital political communication on the spread of violent rhetoric and online polarization. Through a critical review of the literature and an examination of the cases of the attacks on the U.S. Capitol and Brasília, the research highlights how the use of incendiary and polarizing language contributes to reinforcing disinformation, undermining trust in institutions, and intensifying political conflict. While digital platforms have expanded spaces for participation, they have also fostered the proliferation of emotional and divisive messages, with significant effects on electoral behaviour and social cohesion. The study argues for the urgency of regulating online communication, strengthening media literacy, and promoting counter-speech strategies in order to foster a more resilient and inclusive democratic debate.
