In politics, humour and satire have been the subject of study for many years, although most theoretical approaches tend to minimise the significance of these elements, transforming them into genres or rhetorical tools that do not allow their impact to be properly understood. This article aims to analyse their use in the political sphere, studying their effectiveness and consequent role within the broad and multifaceted universe of political communication. The illustration aims to offer an overview of the dynamics that characterise the application of these well-known forms of rhetoric and their value for interpreting the media flow at a political level. It also suggests a sociological perspective that identifies humour and satire as independent and flexible cultural systems, capable of capturing public interest in social and political challenges. This angle allows us to appreciate their potential as tools in dissemination strategies and to understand their significance in the context of the varied state of the art. In this context, platforms such as TikTok are fundamental, as they offer a privileged channel for the viral dissemination of humorous and satirical content, capable of reaching a vast and diverse audience, often young and not very inclined towards traditional forms of political communication. The direct and immediate interaction that these platforms encourage helps to enhance the effectiveness of humour and satire, making them even more powerful tools for guiding and informing public opinion.
