This paper investigates the work of Raffaele Giovine (documented 1822-1858), a leading figure in 19th-century Neapolitan porcelain miniature painting. Combining exceptional artistic skill with an entrepreneurial workshop serving the Bourbon court, Giovine introduced a highly pictorial style defined by rich gilding, bright palettes, and seamless backdrops. Based on the analysis of twenty-six vases in the Royal Palace of Naples and comparisons with Florentine collections, this study highlights the systematic absence of factory marks and the workshop’s reliance on blank porcelain imported from Limoges. Ultimately, it redefines Giovine’s role within the international network connecting Neapolitan decorative arts with major 19th-century French ceramic centers.

Abstract
Ultimately, it redefines Giovine’s role within the international network connecting Neapolitan decorative arts with major 19th-century French ceramic centers.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
