This bibliographic essay critically evaluates the findings and scope of the work Ficciones de la ley (Fictions of Law) by Raúl Rodríguez Freire, exploring the complex interactions and performative threads existing between fiction, law, and literature. Through a review that intertwines the debates of the American Law and Literature tradition, the technical genealogy of Roman law, and the contributions of key thinkers such as Pierre Legendre and Enrique Marí, it analyzes how the normative device of the West operates as an invention of the imagination that alters and shapes human reality. Furthermore, the text examines the historical-symbolic dimension and the theatrical staging of justice in order to problematize the structure of truth characteristic of legal and literary statements. Finally, it highlights the radical potential of literary fiction as an active form of politics capable of contesting hegemonic discourses, dismantling institutional oppressions, and prefiguring better worlds.
