Light field images capture not only the light emitted from a scene but also its direction and intensity at every point within the scene. This capability provides significant flexibility in post-production, enabling the simulation of various perspectives and viewing angles from a single capture. The resulting dataset paves the way for innovative applications across multiple fields, including the medical sector, virtual reality - offering more immersive and realistic experiences - and the industrial and manufacturing sectors, where it proves particularly valuable for examining models or prototypes from different viewpoints. Given their size and their three-dimensional nature, these datasets require compression before storage or transmission. In this paper, we explore the lossless and near lossless compression performance on light field images of standard or novel video compression methods.
