This paper presents a matrix-based discrete event model to simulate, design and implement a model-based control algorithm, including model predictive control. The proposed formalism extends a previous one adding timing information. This feature allows the evaluation of performance indexes making the model useful in many industrial automation systems in presence of real time control specifications.

Abstract
