Despite the absence of specific treatises or systematic analyses on the dialogue in the Italian Literature of the 18th century, a theory of this ‘genre’ can be outlined through the study of the paratexts. In the prefaces and the dedications of several dialogues, in fact, there are reflections focused on the use of this literary form: by connecting these fragments of poetics, it is possible to follow the development of the Renaissance dialogue theory and, at the same time, to explore a new tradition.
