The paper will focus on the reactions of writers and intellectuals, between the second half of the 19th C. and the first part of the 20th C., to the architectural dream of a utopian "sincerity" (cultural, ethical, psychological and ultimately social and political) potentially achieved through the use of glass constructions. Following the theoretical path traced in the essay Critica della trasparenza (2016), the paper will provide some examples of how European literature has reacted to the innovative realizations of transparent buildings, sometimes enthusiastically, sometimes with skepticism.

Abstract
The paper will focus on the reactions of writers and intellectuals, between the second half of the 19th C. and the first part of the 20th C., to the architectural dream of a utopian "sincerity" (cultural, ethical, psychological and ultimately social and political) potentially achieved through the use of glass constructions. Following the theoretical path traced in the essay Critica della trasparenza (2016), the paper will provide some examples of how European literature has reacted to the innovative realizations of transparent buildings, sometimes enthusiastically, sometimes with skepticism.File in questo prodotto:
