The present work intends to reflect on the existence of an ad hoc EU-Western Balkans cooperation model strategically related to their accession which represents the idea behind the Jean Monnet Module EU-Western Balkans Cooperation on Justice and Home Affairs. The main goal is to show how the EU policy towards Western Balkans has gone far beyond enlargement policy. The EU accession of the Western Balkan Countries has, in fact, gained some specific features concerning a form of regional security cooperation instrumental in addressing the security challenges facing the region and the EU.
