In this « epic poem »- in which utopian thought mixes with scientific poetry - Atlantis becomes the « theatre » where a war between the virtuous Symphytes and the corrupted and superstitious Atlantes eventually takes place. Lemercier writes a poem using scientific vulgarization to introduce a critical enquiry on the political transformations of its time.
