In this paper an interdisciplinary didactic path in mathematics and history will be described. It has been proposed to students of the last years of scientific high schools in Campania, Italy, as part of the research project Mathematical High School of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno, Italy. In particular, the experimentation is focused on the analysis of the public discourses of historical men of great importance of the last two centuries in which the use of a logical argumentative structure built starting from the study of Euclid's elements is highlighted. As a case study, the didactic activity linked to the figure of Abraham Lincoln is illustrated: he developed demonstrative paths for the drafting of his own political speeches as if they were problems to solve with Euclidean geometry.

Abstract
In this paper an interdisciplinary didactic path in mathematics and history will be described. It has been proposed to students of the last years of scientific high schools in Campania, Italy, as part of the research project Mathematical High School of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Salerno, Italy. In particular, the experimentation is focused on the analysis of the public discourses of historical men of great importance of the last two centuries in which the use of a logical argumentative structure built starting from the study of Euclid's elements is highlighted. As a case study, the didactic activity linked to the figure of Abraham Lincoln is illustrated: he developed demonstrative paths for the drafting of his own political speeches as if they were problems to solve with Euclidean geometry.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
