In this paper we analyse the role of the teacher in a Digital Interactive Storytelling in Mathematics (DIST-M) activity. Involved in the story as a character (the Guru, a math expert), the teacher acts as a mediator in students’ problem-solving process. We analyse how the teacher may orchestrate the mathematical discussions to allow students achieve the foreseen educational objectives. We also investigate how to exploit technology to support this activity and increase the reach of her educational interventions by means of an ‘augmented reality dashboard’ arising from the collection of data from all students’ social interactions.

Abstract
In this paper we analyse the role of the teacher in a Digital Interactive Storytelling in Mathematics (DIST-M) activity. Involved in the story as a character (the Guru, a math expert), the teacher acts as a mediator in students’ problem-solving process. We analyse how the teacher may orchestrate the mathematical discussions to allow students achieve the foreseen educational objectives. We also investigate how to exploit technology to support this activity and increase the reach of her educational interventions by means of an ‘augmented reality dashboard’ arising from the collection of data from all students’ social interactions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
