Pantelejmon Kuliš has played a key role in the standardization of the New Ukrainian literary language. Throughout the 19th century his scholarly activity had a great impact on the development of the New Ukrainian literary language in various functional domains. Although a number of studies are dedicated to his place in the history of Ukrainian culture, little research has been carried out to analyze the language conception of this renowned scholar along with some peculiarities of his written language. This article aims therefore at highlighting some significant aspects of Kuliš’s commitment to the standardization of Ukrainian and at analyzing Kuliš’s characteristic dialectisms that frequently recurred in his literary writings
