The paper represents the second stage of the “Ways of sustainability”, after a first reflection on library buildings. In this series of papers different themes are faced, all referable to libraries sustainability. This paper analyses the offer of specialized collections, bibliographies and training and educational initiatives on sustainable development, in the broader context of access to knowledge and information and universal literacy, with some Italian examples relating to public and academic libraries.
